Stress, which is our body's response to pressure, can happen at any time. Often times, however, stress is the byproduct of co-dependency, due to financial, personal, and emotional reasons. This is why it is incredibly important to become independent, which means becoming self sufficient and having full autonomy over one's own life. Here are some steps that can help you achieve this:
Tip #1: Gaining Financial Independence
When people have no source of income, they become financially dependent on other people to support them, which makes it near impossible to walk away from someone when they want to. To fix this, people should focusing on finding a job.Find employment that provides you with a steady income, because this creates a necessary self-reliance to become your own person. Once you have a steady flow of income, make sure to budget your finances, to prolong your financial independence.
Tip #2: Gaining Personal Independence:
Gaining personal independence is the most important because of how much it impacts your day to day life. By learning simple skills, like cooking, cleaning, and repairing small problems at home, you can cut out the need for many expensive services because you are able to do it yourself. Personal independence does not just include skills, however, because it also includes staying healthy. By exercising regularly eating proper, and getting routine medical checkups, you can save yourself a lot of issues in the future. This is because an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so if you begin to treat your body like a temple now, the results will help you down the line.
Tip #3: Gaining Emotional Independence:
While emotional dependence might seem like a convoluted term, it is actually pretty simple. Emotional dependence is centered around the three S's: Self-awareness, self-confidence, and setting boundaries. By being self-aware, you begin to understand your strengths and weaknesses, and more importantly, how they impact your life. By understanding this about yourself, you begin to crave less approval from others, which helps increase your self-confidence. By believing in yourself and trusting your judgement, you do not need others to do those things for you. Finally, setting boundaries is so important because it shows yourself what you are willing and not willing to handle. By setting boundaries before they are tested, you can teach yourself what to do when you get in testy situations, instead of being blindsided.
Becoming independent is a gradual process that involves personal growth and development. Start with small steps and continue to build on your achievements. Remember, independence is not about doing everything alone but rather about having the skills and confidence to navigate life effectively on your own terms.
